At the Jewish Community Alliance of Southern Maine, we answer the call for Jewish commitment and transformation with Hinenu every day, through the Goldman Family Preschool, Center Day Camp, Diaper Bank and Essentials Pantry, and countless classes and activities.
Beyond these daily moments, in spring 2026 our community put Hinenu into action in impactful ways. Below are five examples of how we showed up for one another…and for the broader Southern Maine community.

Inspiring individuals of every age to explore, question, and deepen their connection to Jewish identity, history, and values.
In March, members of the JCA's Rimon Women's Group traveled together to the Beth Israel Congregation Mikvah in Waterville for a day of learning and connection. Participants explored the historical significance of mikvah in Jewish life, toured the newly renovated facility, and gathered afterward for conversation and community.

In a state like Maine, where Jewish communities are geographically dispersed and resources can be limited, maintaining the building blocks of Jewish life requires investment and partnership. Ensuring that Maine's Jewish community has access to these traditions helps create a vibrant ecosystem where people can connect with Judaism in ways that are meaningful to them. The JCA is proud to support the Beth Israel Mikvah through our annual allocations process.
This is the spirit of Hinenu. We show up not only for one another, but also for the institutions and communal resources that sustain Jewish life today and for future generations.

Creating shared experiences that bring community members together and organically deepen their Jewish belonging.
