Ceasefire Deal Reached

January 15, 2025

Shared from Jewish Federations of North America

After more than 15 months of anguish, we are heartened by the news of a deal to release dozens of hostages, create a framework for the safe return of all those held, and provide Israel with a path to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.

Every day, our community has held the hostages in our hearts, wept for their suffering, prayed for their safe return, and mourned those we have lost. We have stood with our Israeli brothers and sisters who have endured unimaginable hardship—displacement, service in reserves, the struggle to keep their businesses running, and the ongoing fight to safeguard their families and communities.

Though much work remains and uncertainties loom, we are hopeful that this first phase of the agreement will open the door for the release of all hostages, the end of hostilities, and the beginning of a new era of security and rebuilding for Israel and its neighbors.

We will continue to provide updates via social media and our regular newsletters as more information becomes available.
