The Great Big Maine Challah Bake is back — and bigger than ever! 


Join us for the Fourth Annual Great Big Maine Challah Bake, an unforgettable afternoon of community, connection, and tradition. Hosted by Rimon, Southern Maine’s hub for Jewish women’s programming, and led by Graeme Miller, this beloved event welcomes women and girls (ages 10+) from across the state to roll up their sleeves and braid something beautiful — together.

Women & Girls 10+

The 4rd Annual Great Big Maine Challah Bake is hosted by Rimon - The Portland Jewish Women's Group as they seek to connect mothers, daughters, and women with the traditional art of Challah making.

Parking

Our parking lot is located behind our building, at 1342 Congress St.
On evenings and weekends, you are welcome to use the parking lot at the dentist’s office at 1330 Congress, the red brick building next door to the JCA.

Speakers

Graeme Miller joins us once again as the lead baker and instructor of the 4th Annual Great Big Maine Challah Bake. In addition, Sendell Morse joins us to share stories from her new book.

Sendell Morse

Author Sandell Morse will join us at the 4th Annual Great Big Maine Challah Bake to share her new book, Manna Songs: Stories of Jewish Culture & Heritage.


Sandell is the author of the memoir, The Spiral Shell, A French Village Reveals Its Secrets of World War II(Schaffner Press, April 2020). Morse’s essays have been noted in the Best American Essays series, published in Creative Nonfiction, Ploughshares, and the New England Review, among others. She has won the Michael Steinberg essay prize, been nominated for Best of the Net, and two Pushcart prizes. Morse has been a Tennessee Williams Scholar at the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, an Associate Artist at the Atlantic Center for the Creative Arts, a resident at Hewnoaks, Marble House Project, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. 

 

She holds degrees from Wilson College, the University of New Hampshire, and Dartmouth College. Essays are forthcoming in “The Razor’s Edge” and “The Manifest Station.” Her memoir, Raising Nina, A Grandmother's Memoir of Mothering, is out on submission.
