The Pomegranate Society honors women who make a personal commitment of $1,800–$4,999 annually to the JCA’s campaign. The pomegranate, one of the seven fruits named in the Torah, is said to contain 613 seeds — one for each mitzvah. It is a symbol of abundance, compassion, and a woman’s power to nourish the Jewish people through giving.


Members of the Pomegranate Society embody these values, uniting generosity with purpose. Their philanthropy strengthens Jewish life in Maine and around the world, building bridges of connection and care.

Lion of Judah

    A Tribute Gift is a traditional Jewish way to mark important dates or milestones in honor or in memory of those we know and love. Just a few examples of when Tribute Gifts are especially popular: birthdays, anniversaries, religious and secular holidays alike, from Rosh Hashanah and Passover to Mother’s & Father’s Day. Many also choose to mark the passing of a respected community member or loved one through tribute gifts, or to honor someone on their Yahrzeit (the anniversary date of a death).

Our local allocations invest in the institutions, programs, and creative initiatives that make Jewish life in Maine vibrant and resilient.
