New Center Day Camp Director

We are so pleased to welcome our new Center Day Camp Director, Chris Thurston, who is excited to bring the Maine camp experience to kids from near and far!

Graduating from the University of Maine in 2011, and eager to make a difference, he moved to Massachusetts and joined AmeriCorps City Year, working with young people at the Dearborn Middle School in Roxbury, followed by a teaching position at The Community Academy of Science & Health in Dorchester. Most recently, Chris has served as Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Wakefield for several years, where he increased Camp enrollment each summer, improved programming, developed community partnerships, and supported families through the campership initiative.

For eight summers Chris attended and worked at Camp Manitou, a residential camp in Oakland, Maine where he worked with campers and counselors from around the world as part of the leadership team. Chris is impressed by CDC’s the history and community, and began here last week, just in time to open registration for summer 2020. He looks forward to meeting alumni and new and returning campers and staff.

Welcome Chris!

P.S. Camp weeks for summer 2020 are officially open for registration and you can do that here:  https://mainejewish.campintouch.com/ui/forms/application/camper/App
