Warm winter boots have been identified as a major need among children in Maine. Michael Klahr Jewish Family Services (KJFS) at the Jewish Community Alliance (JCA) of southern Maine, is pleased to once again bring to our community the Joe Bornstein Winter Warmth Drive. Now in its 4th year, the annual Joe Bornstein Winter Warmth Drive has one goal - to get boots on the feet of kids who need them before the snow flies!

We are calling on our community to participate by making a monetary donation which will allow us to then purchase boots. All boots will be compiled at the JCA and distributed by volunteers to local schools on a weekly Basis.

Last year, the JCA and KJFS met our goal of providing over 500 pairs of winter boots to a total of 9 schools! Help us meet our goal and support our community again this year.

Sort and Share

Groups of volunteers sign up to organize boots at the JCA. After being sorted, boots are delivered to schools and handed out to the kids who need them most!

Delivery

This year, nine schools will be participating in the Joe Bornstein Winter Warmth Drive. We are so thankful for their help in identifying students in need and helping distribute boots to them.

Since the start of the program, the Joe Bornstein Winter Warmth Drive has handed out more than 2,000 pairs of winter boots.

More than 100 volunteers from our community have come together to make this project possible. Special thanks to WEX, Portland Radio Group, Levey Day School, Goldman Family Preschool, Congregation Bet Ha'am, and all the other individuals who participate.

A total of fifteen area schools have participated in the Joe Bornstein Winter Warmth drive and helped to provide students with winter boots for Maine's cold winter.
