Essentials Pantry
In October 2021, Michael Klahr Jewish Family Services (KJFS) began developing a new pilot program designed to provide individuals and families with crucial essential items that are not available through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The KJFS Essentials Pantry has grown significantly since, with a wide variety of offerings that include:
- Basic Toiletries: soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes
- Period Products: tampons, pads, and liners
- Cleaning Supplies: sponges, cleaner, dish soap
- Toilet Paper
- Paper Towels
- Laundry Detergent (pods & liquid)
- First Aid Items
- Advil/Tylenol
Items are placed into large bags and distributed as “essentials kits” to clients receiving diapers and to refugee families/individuals we serve through our HIAS program.
Over 200 kits have been provided to community members since January 2022.
