2012 Jewish Community Alliance

Annual Campaign

Keeping a community strong takes the whole community. That is why your support is crucial. The JCA touches lives not just in our immediate community, but world-wide. Your contribution to the JCA Annual Campaign will help ensure that we can continue to offer vital services and programming.

In addition to our existing slate of excellent programming and services, we are heading into 2013 with many new and exciting initiatives.

So many people have turned to us during the past few years to help them overcome difficulties, and thanks to generous donors, we have been able to provide assistance. Expanded food pantry, emergency loans, heating assistance —all of these services were there for those who needed them.

We work to ensure that every member of our community has the opportunity to participate in Jewish experiences, from preschools to adult education courses, from Birthright Israel trips to summer camps.

·         NextDor, our program for community members ages 22-45, is planning many social and   educational opportunities for people to connect with each other and learn about Jewish life in Maine and around the world

·         The Florence Melton Adult Mini School (FMAMS) is expanding its graduate course programming. Core classes continue and our first group of graduates has the opportunity to continue their Jewish learning.

We work to ensure that whenever a Jew is in need, anywhere in the world, they can count on the JCA to help.

·         Did you know that your reach extends beyond the borders of our local community? Annual Campaign gifts can transform lives across the globe, bringing Jewish experiences to people of all ages, taking care of poor, elderly Jews in Russia, and providing opportunity to at-risk children in Israel.  We continue to honor our broader mission of connecting every generation with Israel, inspiring a lifelong passion for Jewish living, caring for our elderly with compassion and dignity and giving every Jewish child a chance for a bright future.

We’ve set some ambitious goals. We are bursting at the seams with our reinvigorated programming, our expanded Jewish Family Services offerings, our growing preschool and the need for neutral communal space.

Led by chairs Michael Goldman and Daniel Pearl, we have created a Facilities task force committed to creating a concrete (pun intended) plan for moving the JCA out of our current space on Ashmont Street and into an appropriate site for our programs.
