    JCA Tennis at CDC

    Thursdays, beginning June 24

    Join the Jewish Community Alliance at Center Day Camp this summer for tennis! Participants should be 18+ and possess basic tennis skills. We will mix and match abilities - the emphasis is on fun and exercise!

      Let's Go Fly a Kite!

      Sunday, July 25 (no rain date)

      12:30pm - 3:00pm

      Bug Light, South Portland

      Everyone's invited! Parents, children, friends, etc. Bring a picnic blanket, a folding chair, lunch, outdoor games and a kite. At 2:00pm the NorEasters Kite Flying Club will do a stunt kite demonstration and we'll have kosher ice cream sandwiches.

        The Mothers Circle

        For non-Jewish moms raising Jewish children. Classes will meet approximately twice a month and will focus on Jewish rituals, ethics, and the how-to's of creating a Jewish home. Come be a part of this warm and nurtuting environment and feel empowered to take on the responsibility of raising children in Judaism. Mothers in all family constellations are welcome and participants do not have to be affiliated with a Jewish institution or have any prior knowledge.

         

        Class time and location to be determined.

        Sundays at Center Day Camp

        Center Day Camp

        74 Hackett Road, Windham

         

        Starting Sunday, June 27, Center Day Camp's waterfront will be open for swimming from 11:00am - 3:00pm for call community members. Bring a picnic lunch and spend the day on the shores of Sebago Lake!

         

        Lifeguards will be on duty from 11:00am - 3:00pm. Swimming is not permitted when a lifeguard is not present. Lifeguards may not be present during inclement weather.

          JCA Rafting Trip

          North Country Rivers, Kennebec River, Bingham, ME

           

          Back by popular demand! Meet in Bingham at 8:30am for a one-day rafting trip down the Kennebec River. The rapids are rated 2-4 on a 1-6 scale, which means big waves and big fun. No experience necessary; minimum age to participate is 10.

           

          A non-kosher BBQ lunch (vegetarian option available) is provided on the river and arrangements can be made to bring kosher food to the lunch spot. Additional options for the trip include camping or staying at the lodge the night before. This event is rain or shine and wetsuits are available for rent.

           

          $60.00/person (regularly $85.00), ages 10 and up. Reservations due by July 19. Please click here for the registration form.

          Canning 101

          Wednesday, July 21

          Enjoy your summer veggies into the cold weather! Come learn the basics of canning at the JCA. Students will learn the basics for a boiling water bath (for jams, jellies, salsa and pickles) and how to freeze veggies. Everyone will go home with a jar of salsa.

           

          $15.00 per person.

            Kosher Co-op

            Deliveries of the Kosher Co-op now occur on a rolling basis ANY Tuesday when a minimum of four orders are placed by the preceding week. A standard $15.00 shipping fee applies to all orders and any profits from the shipping are donated back to the JCA.

            To order, go to Specialty Provisions and click on the left menu button that says "order online". Type in your information and place your order. The system will assume you are part of the JCA pickup in Maine based on you "State" entry. Make sure a "Thank you for your order" screen appears when you are finished.

             

            Note: Orders can be customized in the comment section for smaller cuts. You can also request items not on the list and Specialty Provisions will get if for you if they can.
